National Arena League Round 3 8/12/12, Beckenham Spa

The final round of this year’s Arena League was hosted by Larkfield SC at Beckenham Spa. Petts Wood ASC competed against Edenbridge Piranhas SC, Beachfield SC, Cheam Marcuda SC and Larkfield SC.

As we are by far the smallest club in the competition we have countered our limited numbers with the quality of each race we compete in. Each round so far we have won more races than any other club we have competed against (18 first round and 16 second round) and in the final round we improved upon this.

Inspired by enthiastic poolside and gallery support, we won 23 of the evening’s events; Oliver Coe (3), Emily Coe (2), Benjamin Coe (2), Jessica Frankland (2), Emma Johnstone-Burt, Toree West-Agboola, George Walker, James Beele, Adrian Picciau, Charis Mills, Kai Salih, Saffron Salih, Mens Open FS relay, Ladies Open FS Relay, Mens Open Medley Relay, Ladies Open Medley Relay, Girls 15U FS Relay, Girls 15U Medley Relay.

There were also 12 individual personal best times for; Toree West-Agboola( 2), Charis Mills (2), Benjamin Coe (2), Rebekah Noakes, James Beele (2), Kai Salih, Emma Johnstone-Burt and Adrian Picciau.

These amazing performances ensured that we were challenging for the lead throughout the gala.

The final results on the night were
1st Larkfield SC - 180pts
2nd Petts Wood ASC - 166pts
3rd Beachfield SC – 134pts
4th Edenbridge Piranhas – 129pts
5th Cheam Marcuda – 109pts

Entering this year’s competition as the lowest seeded team we have climbed in the rankings for next year’s event.

Thanks to John Mills and David Noakes for officiating, Catherine Mills and Sarah Frankland as team managers and finally to all the cheering supporters in the gallery. Thank you to all swimmers who travelled back from their studies to represent their Club over the three rounds.
All of these things created a fantastic team performance.

Congratulations to you all!

Warm Weather Training Camp 2012 - Daily Blog

3rd November

Today we packed before breakfast, then swam and had a mini gala which was won by the Pink team, a few swimmers got some long course times they didnt have before. Land training is currently going on and we are then walking in to town for lunch followed by a presentation on the beach ! Coach leaves at 3pm and we fly back from Barcelona airport at 6.30pm ! We have had a fantastic week of swimming and training , really well behaved and enthusiastic swimmers, all who completed every session. Well done on completing such tough training ! You will all be glad to know that we have already reserved pool and hotel space for next year !

2nd November

Blue skies and warmest day so far ! We all swam and then went to the beach for land training and ate lunch early so we could go to the beach and play benchball ! Friday evening we went shopping before dinner and then watched both pink and silver teams do 2 performances summing up the week! Both teams were amazing, both performances summed up the week really well and were very slick, highlights were, Lilians injuries, Robbie alias silver bullet fingers, Robbies accent, being cold on poolside, our train into Barcelona being hit be a wave, Charades , cool runnings and Danicas eye candy !....as well as all swimmers being hit by waves !

1st November

Today was brilliant sunshine again all rain forgotten, swimming went well this morning and then it was off to the beach. The waves were gargantuan and one by one everyone was knocked over in the sea.

Thursday evening all the swimmers prepared for a performance on Friday evening !

Barcelona 31st October.

Well woke up today to torrential rain. Simon got drenched on poolside - but it meant we got the Hungarian done earlier than planned - in the rain.
The rain stopped and we got the train in to Barcelona for our afternoon off . The Ramblas were interesting and we experienced an interesting trip in the Barcelona rush hour and didnt really get far on the metro, got back in time for a huge dinner ! Everyone so far has won a lolly for being the best swimmer or land trainer of the session and the teams are pretty much equal !

Barcelona 30th October

Another good day , swimming followed by dodgeball on the beach and then a quiz in the evening. Weather sunny , everyones having a good time and eating too much !

Barcelona 29th October

More sunny weather! Uninterrupted blue skies all day. Everyone has been working really hard, swimming, land training and beach volleyball. So far Casey, Kai and Becky have been given lollies for their teams (pink or grey) for excellent training in one session . Having a brilliant time and even Masters swam today as we had the whole 10 lane pool again. Robbie has given himself the nickname of "bullet fingers" following volleyball (no-one is sure why)?!

Barcelona training camp -28th October 2012

We arrived safely, despite a bit of a bumpy BA flight! Combined with a breakfast of tomato and cheese filled croissant !
Sunny here but a bit of a breeze ! Been on the beach, eaten too much lunch and completed first training session in pool. We had all 10 lanes to ourselves! Just about to have dinner and play "post it note on head" game . Everyone is having fun and swimming in pool was fantastic:)

Bedgebury Day Out - June 6th 2011

We all met for a family picnic at Bedgebury Pinetum on bank holiday Monday. The Forestry commission site has fantastic walks and cycle routes for varying abilities. Most of us took our own bikes or hired them there, and we all took picnic food with us. The more adventurous cyclists attempted the Red route and the even more daring among us tackled the Black run, this resulted in varying levels of success. Thomas and Simon competed for "injury of the day", Thomas almost knocked himself unconscious after doing a backflip down the Black run and Simons attempt to do a Superman impression from his bike and this resulted in multiple fractures of his right arm. However we all had a great time and settled down for an enjoyable picnic after the walking and riding. Bedgebury was a great choice for a day out and thank you to Paul and Sarah Frankland for organising the day for us.
